Prayer for cleansing our heart (mind, will & emotions) before the New Year:

Lord Jesus, I confess all anger, bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness in my heart. Your Word promises, in 1 John 1:9, that if I will confess my sins, you are faithful and just to forgive me of all my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness.

With your help, I release all thoughts and emotions of anger, bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness toward all who have wronged me. I release these thoughts and emotions into your hands and from my life.

By your grace, I forgive ________ of all wrongs done against me. By your grace, I will not hold their sins against them any longer. By your grace, I will lay down these heavy burdens that I have carried. By your grace, I will receive your rest and healing for my soul. By your grace, I will live in the freedom and joy you have for me.

With your help, I forgive myself for any past sins, shortcomings, failures, and regrets. I realize that I do fall short and am in desperate need of your amazing grace. I receive your amazing grace, mercy, love, and forgiveness in all areas of my life.

With your help, I will go into the new year free and full. I am free of all the weights that have beset me (Hebrews 12:1), by your loving kindness and strength; and I am full of the grace, mercy, love, and power of my God.

These are my confessions and declarations of faith and trust in my God. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
